Here are a couple of ideas of the context of the story to explore these include…
The steampunk aesthetic of character, loosely broken down to two opposite forces that of high Victorian morals and structure(i.e. Governess, Military Officer) versus the free spirited and loose virtues (i.e. Air Pirates, Criminal ). This then will create the internal conflict of drama, through the characters that embrace these characteristics. Within the mix I’d like the idea of a character(Engineer) being torn between them.
Also Steampunk wouldn’t be steampunk without the futuristic Victorian technology alongside it, this is the main reason for this project, Charles Babbage with the already made AnalyticalEngine(A.E.) alongside Ada Lovelace the first credited computer programmer. Acouple of ideas that come to mind… the very beginnings of the Victorian space race and/or the creation of a Victorian Artificial intelligence using the Darwinian theory of evolution within a computer programme and/or Ada Lovelace conscious put into the engine(A nudge to William Gibson), she died young at 36 in 1852 from cancer and bloodletting! I got an image in my mind of Ada’s conscious in the A.E. transcending to the heavens/stars in a Victorian rocket!
